"Mr. 3"

For those of you who know Linda and me, our desires in serving others at the Canon City Queen Anne, this blog may seem odd; a prayer for our grandson.

However, we know it is critical for us to give thanks for all we have been provided, faith, family, friends, customers and part of that thanks is most of you who have visited the Queen Anne know there is scripture on each table. It is there to remind all of us to give thanks for the many blessings in living in a country that was founded on religious freedom.

Our dear 16 year old grandson Kenne Ballard has been facing a major health issue in his inability to urinate, leading to surgeries and now his having to carry a urine bag. He is scheduled for major reconstructive surgery Wed. 4/7 and we ask for your prayers that the surgeons are successful and he can return to being a young man with hope, joy for the future.

To understand Kenne we must share that he is a sweet spirit, a young man who works hard in all that he does, faith, family, studies, sports (known as “Mr. 3″ for his ability to make 3 point shots on the basketball team.)
More than that he is the first born of four children, so he has had to carry the burden of more discipline and learning to share.

We know there is something special in Kenne’s future, we are confident that he will be healed and move forward, we just pray that this experience will strengthen his faith and encourage him to know how much others love him.

Our love,
Grandma, pa, Great Grandma Ethel, Annie and Cody’man.

tea lady_the art of pie making
Mrs. Linda, the canon city queen anne tea lady did an outstanding job in teaching the secrets to successful pie making. The queen anne english and roman tea rooms were filled to capacity with guests from colorado spring and southern colorado.

The two hour demonstrations was broadcast from the personal, paula deen looking kitchen, to three tea rooms, allowing guests to enjoy hot tea, scones and devonshire cream, from their table.

We want to thank Teresa Farney, Food Editor, Colo Springs Gazette, for her recent newspaper story, explaining her visit to the baking demonstration in Feb. ‘10.

The next Baking/Cooking Demonstration will be Sat. 4/17, 2:00 p.m., on The Art of Quick Breads. Early reservations requested.

Afternoon/Lunch or High/5 course Dinner teas, Tues – Sat., please call or text 791 275-5354 or email: linda@thecanoncityqueenanne.com for reservations.

Don’t forget Easter Bonnet Brunch, Sunday, April 4th, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. seatings!!!

"Experience the Flavor"[caption id="attachment_163" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="Rob was the winner"]Rob was the winner[/caption]

St. Patrick’s Day Dinner was a load of fun with guests from Colorado Springs, Cotopaxi, Pueblo and Fremont County; the atmosphere was fun and the dinner winner was Rob, who even had green hair and facial hair, “way to go Rob.” Linda and I sincerely appreciate special events customers as they come to experience fine dining with others and it is always fun.

………………………………………………………………….

Thursday, March 18th, we participated in the Pueblo Food and Wine Show at the Pueblo Convention Center. It was a well attended event with over 700 visitors. We gave out over 400 brochures, bit size scones with devonshire cream and were surprised that we tied for first place in the dessert catagory. The company who won had been there two years in a row, so they deserved the win and we were just happy to have placed in the peoples choice. Canon City’s own MoMo restaurant won the overall people choice award, way to go canon city.

Once again, we were blessed with very complimentary comments from those who have visited the Queen Anne and we think we should go next year and enter our devonshire filled, chocolate covered strawberries as our dessert option, what do you think?

What a blessing…. watching father’s, a grand father and mother honor a daughter/s with a special dinner prior to the Father/Daughter Dance in Canon City, CO.

There is no doubt that the young ladies see the love of a parent, grandparent, and begin a journey in trusting males; may we never forget the value of a date night with a daugher, grand daughter.
