Birthday, Technology Lady

Birthday, Technology Lady

Technology can be a love/hate relationship, especially with the internet, website development and constant management; smart phones/service plans; advertising, ie gambling, however, there are some good experiences and here’s one.

We had high/5 course dinner tea, last night, for a birthday guy and his girl friend had a digital camera. So, she is shooting pictures in rooms and especially his 16 oz. rib eye steak/as his eyes widen and his smile grew. i told her that we post special pictures on our website and she said, “here, take the simms card and download what you want.” Wow, how cool, so I went to the queen anne media pc, printer, slipped in her simms card and amazing, new pictures for the website, advertising. Now, that is a reason to stay in tune with technology.

Mike Boyles, Mike Boyles Restaurant Shows, did a noon feature restaurant piece, yesterday, on Channel 11, Colorado Springs. Linda put together a wonderful layout, we fried up a rib eye steak for the high tea display and off I went to the show. What a great experience, I had the opportunity to watch the entire noon news show; and they handled it so well, it could be a stress pot, however, professionalism reigned. Mike did a great job and he may become a tea person yet. We need to find him a dinner date for the Queen Anne and he will return to experience it, do a story.

Linda tells me another 10 year old, girl birthday, was scheduled, yeah, what a treat to see young ladies enjoy learning about tea.

We scheduled another fund raiser for Sangre De Cristo Hospice, Sept. 12th, please add to your calendar.

Tentative date to debute the “Mile High Window Light Show,” 7/8, along with the Queen Anne hosting the Canon City Chamber of Commerce, Business After Hours.

The Art of Grilling, next saturday, 2:00 p.m., guests Jim/Holly Scanga, Rob Harper and Shelley.

Drive by any evening, 8-10 p.m., to see the window lighting show progress; we plan to call it the “Mile High Window Light Show,” when it is done, hopefully 4th of July weekend. Things are getting very attractive and romantic at 813 Macon Avenue, Canon City, CO.

Another diverse weekend at the Queen Anne. Afternoon/Lunch Teas brought a number of new guests and valued regular customers bringing family, friends, acquaintances. It also brought our first “real” customer complaint concerning the table setting, food, service, generally an unhappy customer who we will provide a gift certificate to try and please the next time. It is absolutely devastating when we receive a complaint that was so full of anger, disappointment; however, a time to reflect on the reality that complaints are a good thing if we learn from them, which we will do.

Daryl and Joyce, justsaygo.com; what a joy to host two travelers who make it a point to find destinations and take on the responsibility to write about their experiences, making recommendations for others. We thank you for electing to include the Queen Anne, come and listen to our stories. It was a pleasure to meet you and realize what true servant hearts that both of you have, thank you for your service to those in need, at the downtown Fort Collins coffee shop and ministry.

Abe and Mary, Western Heritage Days/Victorian Brunch; what a pleasure to host John and Pam/aka Abe and Mary (we promise air conditioning in the 3rd floor guest room, next visit, smile.) Thank you for your service in keeping an important time in our country’s history alive; your representation is so needed during these times of division and dissatifaction in America. And thank you canon city chamber of commerce/doug and the whole volunteer staff who bring an annual event to the community.

The Queen Anne tree, as many know, was hit by lighting. The 120+ year old, front tree is a part of 813 Macon, and it looked like it was going to need to come down. However, leafing out and a plea to the city forrester has allowed the old fella to live; now it is our job to keep it watered and we are so happy as it is a part of the Queen Anne experience.

Mike Boyles, restaurant radio show; Linda did a Denver radio spot last week, to air 6/26; and we both did a Colorado Springs spot two weeks ago, to air 6/19, Mike will be here tomorrow, 6/8, to discuss saturday spots for July, August. SHOW TIMES FOR Mike Boyle Restaurant Shows – Saturday, 10AM-1PM on 1460AM KZNT, and Saturday afternoon, 3-5PM on 710AM KNUS. The Sunday show is heard in both markets (a simulcast) on both KZNT and KNUS from 10AM-Noon. Please pass this along to family, friends, neighbors, like all businesses we need consistant word of mouth recommendations.

Today, Monday, as we rest and get caught up with administrative duties, ie bills and website, we reflect once again on our blessings and we ask that you lift a dear friend, Don, up in prayer; he is in ICU in canon city, with blood clots/we pray for complete healing.

Taking High/5 course dinner tea reservations can sometimes be a task, as we have to find out entre’ information and people must decide what they would like. However, during these conversations we find out information about the guest and sometimes it is their celebrating an anniversary, birthday (we provide all anniversary, birthday guests with a framed color photo, as a memory of their high tea.)

Recently we took a reservation for a 59th anniversary, the longest marriage anniversary yet; we had a 55th prior. What a lovely couple and they still admired and loved each other.

That same evening we had another high tea reservation, for a couple, and we placed them in the same room. Little did we know it was their 1st month anniversary celebration.

As we served them dinner we overheard the sage advice passed along from one generation to another; ie marriage gets sweeter with time, loving each other takes a full time effort, she’s just as lovely as the day i met her, etc.

Wow, that young couple could not have received more meaningful counsel and it came free with their high tea.

Linda and I are constantly reminded that we are just facilitators, providing hospitality and encouragement; the evenings are arranged by a higher power.
